Hi
My name is Rhonda, and I have
RSD
As time permits, I will be working on my journal and placing it here for anyone that's interested to see.It will probably take up several pages, since neither I nor my helper (and step-dad) David particularly like long drawn-out web pages.
I was first injured on February 18, 1996.
I was working as a Certified Nurses Aide in a Nursing home. It was mealtime for the residents, and I
was carrying a tray to one of them that was bedridden. Some *thoughtful* (read careless) person had
left the crank handle out on the adjoining bed. Since I was using both hands to carry the tray of food,
I didn't see it, and tripped over it striking my left knee on a wheelchair as I fell. I finished work that
night, but the pain never went away. I went to the *company* doctor the next day, but got no relief.
He told me the pain was all in my head. After several trips to this doctor, I was referred to another doctor
that told me I had RSD. This was sometime in late March of 1996, approximately 6 weeks after I was
injured.
I was treated for RSD in the first week of June, 1996 (approximately 15 weeks after being injured), but the
treatment did more harm than good because no-one knew anything ABOUT RSD. It was another year (June 1997)
before I finally found a doctor that even knew what RSD was or how to treat it.
to be continued
